Suggested Readings for May 4, 2008

bibleThis week we will look at another one of Jesus’ powerful miracles- related to healing sickness and overcoming death. The primary text for this week is Mark 4:21-43.
Monday:
Mark 5:21-34.
What long-standing illnesses do you or someone you know need healing from? Present them before God today in prayer.
Tuesday:
Mark 5:35-43.
In this miracle Jesus raises a girl from the dead. Who is instructed to have faith in this story? Notice the contrast between fear and faith.
Wednesday:
Matt. 8:1-17.
This section has several healing miracles. Notice the fulfillment of prophecy that Matthew cites in verse 17.
Thursday:
Isaiah 53.
This chapter declares the qualities and ministry of Jesus who is our suffering servant who is also the savior. Take heart that “the punishment that brought us peace was upon him.”
Friday:
Jer. 17:1-18.
Focus on the cry for deliverance and healing in verse 14. Trust only in the Lord today and nothing else.
Saturday & Sunday:
1 Pet. 2.
This passage is about enduring suffering. Take heart that Christ gives us complete spiritual healing, not just physical healing.
