Mary's Song: The Magnificat

In Mary's prayer we see someone who is filled with praise as she sees the promises of God fulfilled. Mary praises God because he has shown mercy and has remembered his covenant with the people of Israel. The Christ child she would bear will be the cause of a great reversal. God will bring down the mighty and lift up those of humble estate. The astounding mystery of Christmas is that God would humble himself in such a way to become like his creation and bring salvation through his Son Jesus.
