The Marks and Authority of a Disciple

Passage: Mark 3:7-19

Have you ever found yourself in the middle of a conflict that you didn't want to be a part of? Jesus' disciples found themselves in the middle of the battle between the kingdom of God and the kingdom of Satan. And Christians today find ourselves in the midst of that battle. Yet our call as disciples is anchored in the following facts: 1. Jesus called us and he desires us to be with him. 2. Jesus has sent us to preach his message of forgiveness and freedom. 3. Jesus gives us the authority to confront evil. 4. Jesus unites us-as different as we are- around his mission of reaching people. These are the anchors for our souls when we question our role and calling as Jesus' followers.
