Feasting or Fasting?
Jan. 6, 2008
Teacher: Jim Folk
Passage: Mark 2:18-22
Who refuses to eat at a wedding reception? A kill-joy, that's who. Yet often we miss the point that Jesus came to bring joy into our lives. The presence of Christ and his kingdom should bring celebration. Jesus illustrates this fact by showing that our old ways of "doing religion" simply don't mesh with God's new agenda. Jesus brings total transformation, not just a patch-work fix. We must be ready to have our wineskins of faith stretched a bit. And the best part- we're not just guests at the wedding feast, we are now the bride of Christ!

Verse of the Day
- For if you love those who love you, what reward do you have? Do not even the tax collectors do the same? And if you greet only your brothers, what more are you doing than others? Do not even the Gentiles do the same? You therefore must be perfect, as your heavenly Father is perfect.
