As Jesus approached his death, Jesus was mocked by soldiers, passers-by, and religious leaders. Jesus suffered this humiliation, pain and death so that we could live.

Mark's account of Jesus before Pilate reveals that Jesus is the King who submits to his heavenly Father. He is sinless: morally perfect, righteous and just. He is the King who willingly gives himself to set the guilty free!

God doesn't want us to live our lives wearing a mask so that everyone thinks that we are confident and successful. He wants us have a realistic evaluation of our need for him. Peter's example shows us how we try to hide behind a mask.
